The Shree Jalaram Seva Trust is based in Staines Road, Hounslow London and meets the needs of the Hindu community of the people from the City and County of Middlesex. The Hindu community consists mainly of people from different parts of India and East Africa as well as people born in the UK. The main languages spoken are Gujarati, Hindi and English.

 

The Shree Jalaram Seva Trust wants to appoint a full time Religious worker who will be responsible for assisting the main Priest in range of duties and responsibilities during performance of rituals and ceremonies, and maintaining the Temple. The congregation believes in, and the Religious worker will need to be experienced in, both the Sanatana Dharma and Arya Samaja ceremonies/scriptures/sacraments including the conduct of the havan.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

 

  • To assist in conducting of: puja’s, arti’s, bhajans, havans and ceremonies.

  • Promoting key Hindu Festivals spiritual and religious programs for the diverse Hindu community with special consideration for seniors, youths and children of the community.

  • Providing religious services for the Hindu community as and when required. 

  • The members' requirements for religious rites should be accommodated promptly that includes: birth, marriage and death rites.

  • Contributing towards revenue generation by receiving and recording donations and encouraging visitors to become members of the Shree Jalaram Seva Trust.

  • Talk to school visiting groups about Hindu scriptures/beliefs/etc.

  • Ensuring that the temple is maintained with sacredness and cleanliness.

  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the board in non-pastoral role

 

Qualifications

 

  • Training and practicing as a Hindu religious worker.

  • Knowledge of the Sanatana Dharma and Arya Samaja traditions.

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people of all ages and from all walks of life.

 

Experience - At least 2-3 years’ experience working in a large Temple with a significant congregation. Working in India is desirable but not essential.

Salary – National minimum wages

 

Hours - 30 hours per week.

 

Holiday Entitlement - Four weeks per year

 

Probation and Notice period – This is a permanent post starting with six months probationary period, and can be terminated by either party giving one months’ notice in writing. Overseas applications are welcome.
